Why is it called the Dark Side?
Local nickname for everything inland of Sukhumvit Road. It has nothing to do with safety.
Is it worth being away from the beach?
If you want a garden, a pool and room for a family, your money goes roughly twice as far here. If you want to walk to the sand, it is the wrong choice.
What about schools?
Most of the international schools are on this side, which is why many families with children end up here.
